Jawaharlal Nehru has left behind the legacy of the right to education and development for children in our country. His love for children is celebrated as Children’s Day on his birthday every year on 14th November. Moreover, his speech, “Tryst with Destiny”, in the Parliament to the Constituent Assembly which was given on the eve of India’s Independence, became quite popular for a lot of reasons. One such was when he cited: “We have to build the noble mansion of free India where all her children may dwell,” he had said in the speech. Read this small blog where you will find some of Jawahar Lal Nehru’s thought-provoking quotes that have inspired the generations. You will find poems on children’s day, which are written by me as an Author (Shivi Goyal). Here’s a look at Children’s Day Poems and Quotes

Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul. Jawahar Lal Nehru

Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will. – Jawahar Lal Nehru

Ignorance is always afraid of change. – Jawahar Lal Nehru

You can tell the condition of a nation by looking at the status of its women. – Jawahar Lal Nehru

At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history when we step out from the old to the new when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. – Jawahar Lal Nehru

Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow. – Jawahar Lal Nehru

Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is also a state of mind. Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people. – Jawahar Lal Nehru

Evil unchecked grows, evil tolerated poisons the whole system. – Jawahar Lal Nehru

What we really are matters more than what other people think of us. – Jawahar Lal Nehru

Poems by me:

My princess

The greatest gift God has given me

When she was born, I was complete

Conception itself is a miracle

She gave me the reason to love and grow

It is the start of new life and good health, mentally

Such a treasure is your precious child

Hold them close to you

Sing with them

Dance with them

Talk to them

Then, you will realise their hugs and kisses are life-giving

They can be messy and murky

They can be wet with the dampened diapers

Or dirty clothes and floors with colours everywhere

But the colours they spread in our lives

The love, they bring in, is worth to live for

Parenthood is a miracle

Live it, love it, and make it worth for our children

I Thank God to give me my princess, Chiya

Don’t Ground Me Under

A kid’s voice in today’s world can be this as well
where one day we see the best in the world for our children
There exist this side as well
A little kid cites:
Please don’t kill me
Please don’t hate me
Do not ask me to beg
Please do not hurt me with abusive language
I’m kid please do not shove me around
Let me dream, please do not kill my evolving dreams

If I get lost, bring me back, don’t sell me
Don’t stick my wanted or missing pictures
I’m not a toy for you to use as a sex toy
I’m not a flower to crush and have nectar
Don’t use me for your gains
Do not crush me with rape
Tricking me for lust and money is a crime
I’m not a speck of dirt please do not treat me like this

My innocence is not for sale
Please don’t teach my hypocrisy
Something which you don’t do, don’t teach me
Just stop making a hero or princess for tomorrow
Stop nipping my talent for your monetary benefits
Don’t leech, don’t preach
Stop being judgemental on my cuteness
Stop committing sins and preaching me to do so
your fears are yours don’t make them mine
Don’t criticise me for your misconceptions and blunders,

Please let us be kids
Let us be the way we are
As we are the future
When we will grow the way we shall
We will make you proud

Stop mistreating
As we are the hope for the world
We can spread love and kindness the way it is needed
We can change your fate
We can be on our own, but without your prejudice
We, the children, have no day to celebrate
Let us celebrate!

Happy Children’s Day!

About us

There is a piece in me that like to tenderly imagine my maverick and seditious soul. But, precisely, I love to have a picky and cosy relationship with my soul that can rub up against a little bit, putting me alive.
