Corona Virus outbreak has resulted in havoc in the world. With myths to facts, everything about Coronavirus is spreading like bling in the air. During this lockdown period, people are using various means to overcome boredom and to keep themselves stress-free.
Here’s what you can do – read books, they are your best friends. There is an ocean of books in our lives. These come from eminent authors, thinkers and writers. For now, I have brought a selection of some great books which you can read while house arrest. If you are not able to get them as a paperback, get them online to read.
A Visit from the Goon Squad
Jennifer Egan
Time is the goon, coming to take your youth away. But this isn’t a dark mope. Egan is richly, ironically humorous, with a smart, intricate brain.
Changing Places
David Lodge
Two academics swap universities so Lodge can give us England through American eyes and vice versa. It’s the old fish-out-of-water routine but brilliantly done.
The Compleet Molesworth
Geoffrey Willans
Rum goings-on at St Custard’s school, as described by a tiny pupil. Any fule knows Molesworth’s misspelt imaginings about his schoolmasters are a high farce.
How to Be a Woman
Caitlin Moran
Reading this is like a night soaked in gin with your cleverest best friend, setting the world to rights. Hilarious, emotional and galvanising.
From the literature to history, now these small quick books which will reduce your stress the moment you start reading them.
