Balance is Better, it is the theme this year. Everyone is promoting it and talking about gender equality. They are saying that there should be gender equality in our society and including UN Women and the United Nations support this theme – #balanceisbetter.
Gender equality is not just a taboo or an issue prevalent in our societies but it is now like the disease that not only impacts women but it affects us all. With not stretching on feminism as I’m not a feminist to the core I would say this day and perhaps every day let’s get together to achieve gender equality, which will create a better future for all.
As a woman, I have struggled slice by slice all through my life and still struggling with patriarchy and gender inequality in the workplace. Quit my job for my daughter to bring her up alone. I have no helping hand to support mentally and financially and what not I have been facing, but I’m not here to write about my story, in fact, no one’s story. I urge and wish to impact the women out there to be on your own and be strong in their decisions no matter they can be terrible but if you believe in them, in reality, no one can stop you.
With my last year’s blog where I have given some examples and quotes of successful and strong women, I would like this year to be talking about equal rights for all humans. For me, a woman’s day is every day. Every single day the achievements and celebration of women shall be honoured and revered.
International Women’s Day is gleefully and profligately celebrated all over the world idolizing the notable contributions and achievements of women who have excelled in their corresponding domains. It is not essential that these women have to be the CEOs or owners of multinational companies; they can be an average woman making little or big contributions in their own way to the society. The agenda is to celebrate women’s achievement and raise awareness against bias in our own way. Take the action for gender equality and share equal ownership for driving gender parity on this International Women’s Day.
Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained: “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” So make International Women’s Day your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.
What I feel and wish to convey is a balanced world which is a better world. How can you help forge a more gender-balanced world?
