Bollywood is always known for thrillers, and movies infused with mysteries and suspense have its own audience in Bollywood industry. Reasons for this are many, they keep you stick to your chair; they thrill you every second for guessing what is coming next, etc. With its own set of audience, thriller movies have created their own niche in Bollywood. On the contrary, there are some underrated movies that seem to be intriguing yet not hyped much. For example, Nirdosh a suspense thriller of ZEE5 that casts Arbaaz Khan, Manjari Fadnnis is one of the best thrillers of 2018. However, it did not grab the kind of attention it deserved from the audience. You would probably know quite a few of them and must have watched as well, but here’s a rundown of a few, Check the list below:
Nirdosh
Let’s kick things off with the movie that I blew me away recently. Nirdosh dropped in the theatre in 2018. This suspense thriller cast Arbaaz Khan, Manjari Phadnis in the lead roles. The story revolves around a family of three that came to a toppling affair when a paying guest Mahek Chahal comes to stay with them. The movie is directed by Pradeep Rangwani and Subroto Paul. They have tried to make the story engaging through a brutish investigating Inspector Lokhande who arrests Manjari Fadnnis as a prime suspect. Later in the story, we realise that everyone seems to be a suspect in this murder mystery thriller. Arbaaz Khan looks handsome as always, and Ashmit Patel too had an appealing look in the movie. The other cast too did a fair amount of justice to their role. You can Watch Nirdosh Online anytime you want.
8X10 Tasveer
Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor – 8X10 Tasveer is a Hindi psychological thriller starring Akshay Kumar, Ayesha Takia, Sharmila Tagore, and Javed Jaffrey. Right from the bat, one can see that the movie travels along with the character Jai, who is a forest ranger in Canada with a unique trait of seeing things in past just by starring at the photographs. He developed this mysterious talent when he died in an accident under mysterious circumstances. Further, he starts looking for his father’s murderers with the help of his psychic powers. The cast of the movie leads movies were able to keep me hooked to my chair. Akshay Kumar – the star himself has done wonderfully well. Ayesha Takia plays a good role but, to be very honest, it was not that impactful, whereas Javed has justified the character’s needs. Overall this thriller is a must watch for all thriller lovers.
Shagird
The 2011 thriller is directed by none other than Tigmanshu Dhulia and stars Nana Patekar as Hanumant Singh, Mohit Ahlawat as Mohit Kumar and Rimi Sen as Varsha Mathur in the lead roles. With such a food casting crew, Tigmanshu Dhulia cooked up a great cop thriller. In Shagird, a rookie cop questions the tactics of his bosses and tries to track the kidnappers of his girlfriend. Unlike the others mentioned in the list, Shagird has jiffies of authority and an uneven, clammy texture that thuds particularly when the camera twists through the bylanes of Old Delhi. It is a crime action thriller which starts with Bunty Bhaiya, who is the gangster and has been arrested in Ghaziabad. What follows forms the entire story of the movie. In a nutshell, it is one cop thriller that no Nana Patekar fan can afford to miss.
Phobia
Phobia – I must say that it is a must watch movie for a Radhika Apte fan. She is a phenomenal actress and has done all the justice to her role in this psychological thriller which got released in 2016. The movie is directed by Pavan Kirpalani and produced by Viki Rajani. Phobia revolves around the life of Mehak Deo (Radhika Apte) who suffers from agoraphobia. She is not able to respond and interact with people who are unknown to her and thus, remains aloof in her apartment. To make matters worse turns out that the apartment that she holds herself in has a traumatised history of a tenant who inexplicably vanished. The plot is interesting, and the background score from Karan Gaur makes the whole story appealing and edged.
Bollywood has been superlative in terms of cinema, and the above mentioned are a few movies that did not get the response from the audience. Had they got the right amount of attention, many of them would have ended up as future classics. Nonetheless, they are spectacular in their own way. Watch them on ZEE5 whenever you want.
