The Best Tourism Villages competition keeps growing — and India’s rural tourism story keeps getting richer. On World Tourism Day, 27th September 2024, the Ministry of Tourism announced the winners of the second edition of the competition. This time, 991 applications were received from 30 States and Union Territories, and 36 villages were recognised as winners across 8 categories InMotion Hosting — nearly double the participation from the first edition.

The 8 categories now include Adventure Tourism, Agri Tourism, Craft, Heritage, Responsible Tourism, Community-Based Tourism, Spiritual Tourism and more — reflecting just how diverse India’s rural tourism award offerings truly are.

Among the standout 2024 winners from Northeast India were Andro village in Manipur, celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and ancient Panam Ningthou Temple, and Sialsuk Tlang in Mizoram, known for its breathtaking landscapes and community-based tourism spiritedblogger.
